Join in for a weekend of high-flying fun at the LBI FLY-International Kite Festival. This exciting festival is hosted by the community of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. The LBI FLY-International Kite Festival is an annual, family-friendly community event offering arts and crafts, food and drinks, live concerts, and so much more. The goal is to bring people out to Long Beach Island for a memorable weekend. Click here for full schedule and location of events. LBI FLY will host celebrity kite fliers from the USA and Canada who have flown at large, prestigious festivals around the world. Several teams of sport kite fliers will fly to choreographed musical routines throughout the weekend to amaze spectators with their intricate movements and complete control of their dual line and quad kites.Giant inflatable kites and single line artist kites will be featured. Many of the inflatable kites, some as large as a school bus, are in the shapes of whales, stingrays, octopuses and a giant duck. There will also be a candy drop from kites for the children (and the children in all of us) and races with inflatable parachute-like kites scheduled. All of this will happen on various beaches throughout Long Beach Island and will be free and open to the public. Bayview Park across from the Long Beach Township Municipal Building complex will feature activities including kite making with South Jersey Kite Flyers. There will be miniature kite making demonstrations and children can learn to make a miniature Monarch butterfly kite. Children will be welcome to fly their kites at the beach in the public fly area at 68th Street in Brant Beach. Other fun children's activities will also be happening.
